MARK STEVENSON
President
As the leader of Ryson, Mark knows what it takes to satisfy clients. The main objective is to complete the job safely and properly, while reducing the amount of stress a client may experience during the build or renovation process.
Mark founded Ryson Construction in 2004. His outstanding reputation is a clear reflection of his work ethic, integrity, and each member of the Ryson team. This has created strong, valuable alliances throughout the industry.
His proactive leadership and thoughtful management style attracts remarkably talented staff, which have evolved into a loyal team that is like family. Everyone at Ryson has a tremendous amount of pride in their workmanship, and they thrive in a healthy and safe work environment that provides the right work-life balance.
Contributing to his community has always been important to Mark. Ryson sponsors a junior hockey team, the East Hants Ryson Construction Penguins. Ryson also supports minor baseball and minor hockey teams, having recently constructed new dugouts and backstops in Elmsdale. The company continually participates in various other charities and fundraisers all over Nova Scotia.
LARRY YOUNG
Senior Project Manager
Larry is exceptional in the architecture and design elements of projects, with over 30 years of valuable experience. The testimonials from his clients praise his attention to detail and creativity to find the right solution.
Having worked for Canada’s largest grocery retailer managing several teams, Larry clearly understands what is important from a clients perspective. His experience working on both sides of the equation allows Larry to build unique and trusting relationships with Ryson clients.
Larry has managed projects throughout Canada for clients including Pharmasave, Loblaws, Halifax Stanfield International Airport, NSLC, and the Elsipogtog Commercial Centre.
On his personal time, Larry is passionate about cycling, travelling, and camping. He actively participates in charity work, fundraisers, and the Feed Nova Scotia program.
TREVOR MACDONALD
Project Manager
Trevor is recognized for being a meticulous project manager. His attention to every detail and great personality builds a foundation for strong, long term relationships with clients. A well rounded skillset, with a specialty in cost management and estimating, provides Trevor with the required tools to achieve full customer satisfaction with every project.
He has over 20 years of experience managing projects throughout Atlantic Canada for clients including Loblaws, Sobeys, NSLC, Home Depot, Royal Bank of Canada, Hudson’s Bay Company, and Zellers.
In his free time, Trevor enjoys coaching and playing Hockey. He actively participates in charity work, fundraisers, and the President’s Choice Children’s Charity.
NICK YOUNG
Project Manager
Nick’s specialty is leading-edge construction technologies. He prefers to be involved in every aspect of a project from day one, and clients truly appreciate his innovative ideas and his ability to execute the strategy.
He is a Gold Seal Certified Project Manager, a LEED Green Associate, a C.E.T., and has earned an impressive construction management education from Dalhousie University and NSCC.
Nick has over 10 years of experience working with clients such as Tim Hortons, Sobeys, Canadian Tire, Home Depot, Loblaws, Money Mart, Pharmasave, NSLC, and Canada Post.
He enjoys playing Hockey, Softball, and Golf during his spare time. Nick participates in charity work, fundraisers, and the Feed Nova Scotia program.
MIKE COOK
Project Manager
Mike has over 20 years of project management experience in the Retail, Institutional, and Commercial construction sectors. His positive attitude and valuable management experience ensures that the project will exceed expectations, be completed on budget, and within the scheduled deadline. He specializes in base-builds and multiple-structure construction projects.
He is a Gold Seal Certified Project Manager, a LEED AP BD+C, and has a C.Tech designation.
Mike has managed dozens of the largest projects in Atlantic Canada. Clients include Canadian Tire, Empire Theaters, J.K. Irving, DND, Home Depot, Rona, Kent Building Supplies, Walmart, Sobeys, UPEI, Loblaws, Purolator, and all 12 NSLC Cannabis locations.
Outside of work, Mike enjoys travelling, skiing, and hiking. He participates in various fundraisers, and the Jumpstart charity with Canadian Tire.
ROBYN FENNELL
Project Coordinator
Robyn’s main role is to support Management and Project Managers by producing contracts, project designs, and millwork shop drawings. She specializes in CAD and Inventor Mechanical Design 3D Software, and also implements company safety policies, procedures, and training.
A critical benefit of having Robyn’s design capabilities in-house is that when a Ryson client needs a design modified or replaced, the task is completed immediately, which avoids outsourcing delays.
Robyn completed the Architectural Engineering Technician program at NSCC.
Robyn is a Scout Leader with Scouts Canada. Ryson has recently donated four 4-person tents for the Scouts to sleep in while enjoying the outdoors. Robyn frequently volunteers with the Lions Club and with food drives.
RYAN STEVENSON
Construction Estimator
Having started working Summers at Ryson in 2013 at 15 years of age, Ryan has always been involved in construction. He began in the Millshop building cabinetry and installing on-site. He then worked full time as a Carpenters Apprentice after graduating high school. In June 2020, Ryan graduated from NSCC earning a Diploma in Construction Management Technology. He has always aimed to work in all departments of the company, and is currently focused on Estimating and Project Coordination.
Ryan is an avid outdoorsman spending summers on the water and winters on the snow. He is also a volunteer with Ducks Unlimited Nova Scotia, and a volunteer Hockey Coach for the East Hants Ryson Construction Jr.C Penguins.
VICTOR SAWLER
Millshop Manager
Victor transforms ideas into reality. With over 30 years of millwork experience, he has seen it all. From custom jewellery showcases, to reception desks, to unique fixturing using metals and acrylics.
As a member of AWMAC, he ensures your product will have the highest quality fit and finish, functionality, and long-lasting durability.
Victor has created innovative fixturing and interior designs for clients including Sobeys, Canadian Tire, Swiss Chalet, Casino Nova Scotia, Loblaws, Kent Building Supplies, NSLC, A&W, Pharmasave, and Inglis Jewelers.
He supports a variety of charities and fundraisers through his church in Milford, and appreciates quality time and great conversations with family and friends.
PAUL WHITE
Accounting Manager
Paul manages the Accounts Receivables and Payables for all projects and business operations at Ryson. He specializes in the preparation and analysis of financial statements and budgets, in addition to other supporting roles.
His friendly and adaptive style allows him to naturally build rapport with clients. With over 30 years of commercial accounting experience in various industries, Paul always thrives for perfection and to make a positive impact.
Paul has a broad education in Business Finance, Management, and Economics. He is an effective communicator, a team player, and an integral member of the Ryson team.
